this is where i spent thanksgiving morning:
on the beach in hawaii with nieces and nephews. not too shabby!
(my brother jonah lives on maui, so me and my brother noah and his family
hopped over there for thanksgiving)
after a little beach time, we headed home to jonah and aja’s house to prepare the feast:
jonah and noah had woken up at 4am to put the turkeys in the imu pit.
they cooked on top of puka puka rocks wrapped in banana leaves for nearly 12 hours!
isn’t jonah and aja’s garden neat? there have about 40 chickens and all kinds of fruit trees.

we had such a great, grateful day.
this year i am especially thankful to have family members that live in hawaii.
last sunday my incredibly classy friends kelly and melinda hosted a gorgeous thanksgiving dinner party on melinda’s back patio. the evening was impeccable…and enchanting and splendid and feverishly lovely. it was such a delight to go to a fancy dinner party, thoroughly appreciate and enjoy, take pictures to my heart’s content (i was dubbed the event photographer), and not be the hostess.

on my thankful list this year is good friends in palo alto. i am surely blessed to be associated with such interesting and wonderful individuals.
on sunday morning we went to the beach near ucsb for a little bit on the way to church.
the water was cold. and exhilarating.
i galloped like a horse. naturally.
the sea was so sparkly,
and the sky was so blue.
we stopped at the dutch town of solvang on our way back home up the 101.
isn’t it darling?!
there was a clog to sit in. naturally.
and aebleskivers make a great sunday lunch.
the drive home included playing mash, talking about favourite scriptures, and just lots of girl talk.
we’re already looking forward to our next race roadtrip…
