last thursday we went to the ballet in the city. i love arts, i love performing arts, i love love the ballet (especially because i was a dancer). this production was absolutely stunning. i was on the edge of my seat the entire time. it included three short ballets. the choreographer of the 1st certainly must have decided to include all the very most technically difficult maneuvers – watching the dancers was positively jaw-dropping. the 2nd was a series of three pas de deux danced to chopin piano nocturnes. after each cadence and conclusion, the entire audience sighed together – in raptured gratitude for the artistic expression of their individual human experience. the last piece was uber-contemporary and super neat – crazy lighting and gumbo bodies and very creative movement. it was all really quite spectacular.
after the show we went out on the balcony and overlooked city hall all decked out in honor of the 49ers (too bad that wasn’t much of a good luck charm in the super bowl…), the city sparkling beyond. it was a memorable night.
